It’s Your Life; Why A New Mattress is Important

Share

Seventy five percent of Americans say they have sleep problems a few nights a week or more. This is eye-opening, considering we spend so much time asleep.

It should be obvious that a new mattress is important for good sleep. Yet research shows a high quality mattress may affect more than just your sleep schedule — it may play a role in increasing your quality of life.

What’s a New mattress good for?

Sleep is one of life’s guarantees, but good sleep is another story. Investing in a new mattress may help you get a restful night’s sleep, but has also been linked to a number of other benefits.

Pain relief

Back and shoulder pain can take their toll on the body, causing stress and physical discomfort every day that is difficult to deal with. Finding a comfortable new mattress is important to relieve this pain. A mattress that caters to the curvature of the spine is best; and support systems that keep the neck, shoulders, hips, and feet aligned are ideal to help the body adjust while sleeping and relieve pain.

Tossing and turning

If you toss and turn or regularly wake up in the middle of the night to adjust your position, it is a good sign that your mattress is not right for you. Your body uses sleep to repair itself, and waking up breaks the cycle, which leaves you feeling worse and worse with time.

Productivity

Sleep deficiency is directly linked to sick days, tardiness, and absenteeism. But the hidden toll is how unproductive people who do not sleep well can be. Rather than relying on stimulants like caffeine to stay awake and keep working, a new mattress may help increase productivity naturally.

Allergies and asthma

Refreshing an old mattress may also relieve some of your allergy symptoms. Old mattresses are filled with old sweat, dead skin cells, and everyone’s favorite —dust mites. Dust mites are tiny critters that feed on dead skin cells, and are a major cause of allergies in Americans. A new mattress is important to get rid of this mess and reduce allergy symptoms. People with asthma may also be more affected by dust mites, so a new mattress could help them find relief as well.

Stress and anxiety

It is common knowledge that stress levels make it difficult to sleep. But lack of sleep also directly influences stress levels. The result is a downward spiral that can make both stress and lack of sleep worse. On the other hand, sleeping well supports physical, emotional, and mental function on many levels. A good night’s sleep on the perfect mattress can improve the mood, increase self-esteem, and make a person have a better attitude in general. In short, sleeping on a new mattress helps you be a better you.

Money matters

Many people quote their budget as the main reason they choose to sleep on an old mattress. Given the astounding effects of sleeping on a comfortable mattress, this is hardly an excuse anymore. Luckily, there are many comfortable mattresses on the market that won’t break the bank. Finding the perfect mattress is a simple once you really understand what’s at stake. A new mattress is important to lead the happy life you deserve.
